1. Decide what you want to achieve

Before designing anything, set a goal. Wanting customers to come more often (a café) is not the same as wanting them to spend more per visit (a shop) or to pay upfront (a beauty salon). Each goal calls for a different type of card.

2. Choose the type of card

  • Stamps if you want more visits and the ticket is similar each time.
  • Points if the ticket varies and you want to reward spending.
  • Prepaid pass if you sell sessions and want to be paid upfront.
  • Membership or club if you have very loyal customers willing to pay a fee for perks.

If you’re torn between stamps and points, we have a guide on how to choose.

3. Choose the reward and the number of stamps

A specific reward («free coffee») works better than an abstract discount. And the number of stamps should let a regular customer get it within one or two months. If you want to do the maths, here’s how many stamps to use, plus 25 reward ideas.

4. Decide the small rules

  • Is there a reward halfway through the card?
  • Do you give a stamp when they sign up?
  • What’s the maximum number of stamps per day? It avoids cheating and mistakes.
  • Do stamps expire? If so, with a generous period of 6 to 12 months.

5. Design it with your brand

Your logo, your colours and, if you can, a photo of your place or your star product. The card should be recognisable at a glance on the customer’s phone, among all the others. If you don’t have a designer, start from a template for your industry and change the logo and colours.

6. Put the QR code where it can be seen

The poster with the QR code goes next to the till, where customers wait with their phone in hand. It also works on tables, on the door and in the window. Share it too on Instagram, your WhatsApp status and your website.

7. Explain it to your team in five minutes

The card’s success depends a lot on your team offering it. One sentence at the till is enough: «Do you have our card? Scan here and your fifth coffee is free». And they need to know how to stamp: open the scanner on their phone and point it at the QR code on the customer’s card.

8. Look at the data after a month

How many customers have signed up? How many come back? At which stamp do they stop? With that you adjust the reward or the number of stamps. And switch on the automatic notifications (birthday, reward ready, we miss you) so the card works on its own.

Do it in an afternoon

With Fidelizando all these steps are done from your phone or computer: pick a template, upload your logo, choose the reward, print the poster and start stamping. You have 14 days free to try it.
